PASS FIRST professional-development companion

Career Launch System

Passing the licensing exam opens the door. Career Launch teaches a new broker how to evaluate a brokerage, understand compensation, communicate professionally, build a relationship network, operate consistently, and execute the first 90 days.

6Applied modules
4Group clinics
90Launch-day plan

Course separation: Career Launch is optional professional development. Its time, clinics, and activities are not represented as part of Indiana’s 90-hour prelicensing requirement, postlicensing credit, continuing education, or a guarantee of licensure, employment, closings, income, or brokerage affiliation.

Career Launch · Module 01

Choose the Right Brokerage

Professional development

Completed outcome: A documented brokerage scorecard and interview decision—not a choice based only on the highest split.

Core lesson

  • A managing broker shapes supervision, training, file review, advertising, lead systems, risk controls, and early habits.
  • A high stated split can be offset by desk, transaction, technology, marketing, lead, association, MLS, insurance, and franchise costs.
  • A good fit connects the student's market, support needs, schedule, values, business model, and learning stage.
Required application

Interview at least three brokerages. Verify every material promise in writing and score the same factors for each company.

Understand Your Compensation

Professional development

Completed outcome: A realistic net-income model that separates gross commission from what the broker may actually keep.

Core lesson

  • Commission is negotiable and is not income until earned and lawfully paid through the applicable brokerage arrangement.
  • Start with transaction-side gross commission, then subtract brokerage split, referral or team share, transaction charges, operating costs, taxes, and reserves.
  • Planning should use conservative closing volume and delayed-income assumptions rather than social-media earnings claims.
Required application

Build three scenarios—survival, target, and stretch—using actual written brokerage terms and personally verified expenses.

Build a Professional Foundation

Professional development

Completed outcome: A compliant professional profile, résumé, introduction, and communication standard.

Core lesson

  • A new broker does not need to pretend to have years of production. Credibility can come from responsiveness, preparation, local knowledge, prior skills, supervision, and disciplined follow-through.
  • Professional branding must identify the brokerage as required and avoid unsupported designations, results, guarantees, testimonials, or claims.
  • Every public profile should answer: who you serve, how you work, what value you provide, and how a consumer can verify or contact the brokerage.
Required application

Draft a truthful 50-word profile, a 20-second introduction, a one-page résumé, and three compliant follow-up messages.

Create Your Lead Network

Professional development

Completed outcome: A permission-based relationship system with daily activity targets and no pressure-script dependency.

Core lesson

  • A relationship database should record permission, needs, timing, source, next step, and last meaningful contact—not private details that are unnecessary.
  • Lead generation is a repeatable set of conversations, service, education, follow-up, referrals, and community presence.
  • Fair housing, do-not-call, consent, platform, advertising, privacy, brokerage, and referral rules apply to outreach.
Required application

Create an initial network of 50 appropriate contacts, segment by relationship and need—not protected class—and schedule the first four weeks of value-based follow-up.

Operate Like a Professional

Professional development

Completed outcome: A simple personal operating system for tasks, documents, communication, money, and risk.

Core lesson

  • The brokerage system controls the official transaction file; a personal system must complement it, not replace or secretly duplicate restricted records.
  • Every commitment needs an owner, deadline, status, next action, and completion evidence.
  • Use checklists for recurring work, trusted-channel verification for money and identity, and immediate escalation for legal, safety, fair housing, cybersecurity, or supervision issues.
Required application

Build a weekly operating rhythm and five checklists: new lead, buyer start, seller start, active transaction, and closing follow-up.

Execute Your 30/60/90-Day Plan

Professional development

Completed outcome: A measurable launch plan that prioritizes competence, conversations, service, and controlled growth.

Core lesson

  • Days 1–30 establish systems, supervision, market knowledge, documents, tools, and daily habits.
  • Days 31–60 increase consistent conversations, appointments, property analysis, and guided transaction practice.
  • Days 61–90 improve conversion, follow-up, financial controls, referral service, and a specialty hypothesis based on evidence.
Required application

Choose no more than five measurable outcomes for each phase. Assign weekly leading indicators and a Friday review that produces one corrective action.

Clinic delivery standards

  • Publish dates, capacity, facilitator, objectives, expected preparation, and the student deliverable before enrollment.
  • Use group education—not individualized legal, tax, securities, employment, or brokerage-contract advice.
  • Do not require students to disclose protected, private, financial-account, client-confidential, or brokerage-restricted information.
  • Provide a make-up resource or next available clinic under the published attendance policy.
  • Record attendance and completion separately from the 90-hour prelicensing record.
  • Escalate Indiana-law and brokerage-specific questions to current authority or the student’s managing broker.
